Power is the main one 405hp and 400ft/b torque for z06 345 hp [?] for regular. Suspension better shocks, sway bars bigger wheels tires, with fender flares. Ever car a manual and all cars fixed roof coupe. Many more items most for weight cutting, tituanium exhaust, windshield is thinner to save a few ounces. It was a very special model.

Is the fixed roof feature only in the Z06, I wished I had researched a bit more when I bought my 2002, didn't know there was a coupe
model at the time, I like the looks of the roof line on the fixed roof. Thank you

Yes and no. 99-00 there was a hardtop aka frc that was offered with the LS1 and was pretty much the same as a coupe. In 01 GM essentially made it the performance Corvette.

sorry not true, it was built for poor man's vette, cheapest one you could buy, then GM found out that the rigid framework made it a track monster and thus became the Z 06 !!!!!!!
All 6 speed C5s got 3.42s. The difference for the Z06 is the ring and pinion is shot peened to be a physically stronger material. The transmission gear ratios are different from the normal M6 however
All C5s with 6-speeds share the same 3.42 rear gears. The Z06 gears are shot-peened. Transmission gearing in the Z06 MN12 is different. Gears 1-2-3 are closer. The Z06 3-rib diff case is a little stronger, though. Not by much, as people break those too. LOL
You can read about the differences in the link below. The first link is from when the 2001 Z06 was introduced and the second shows the changes for the 2002 model year Z06. The 2003-2004 Z06's were the basically the same as the 2002 except for the shocks in the '04:

Good article Pounder. I always read it was the stripper model, which it was technically, but definitely had advantages over the coupe even before the Z.
