i am thinking of putting led switchbacks on my c5 but it seems you have to have your parking and or headlights on in order for that to work ...why? i just want the drls on without having to turn on parking or headlights. does anyone know why this is? i think it's illegal to run parking lights during the day in new york
Perhaps that information got to you from someone that had some very particular situation (or most likely, problem).
I have switchbacks installed and I don't have to do anything special to make them work. The only thing you would need to do, to avoid hyperflashing, is to install a Hyperflash Harness
The switchback feature on my LED DRLs allows the daytime running lights to be amber when the headlights are off, and white when the headlights are on. Hope that helps! Lights off, amber DRL Lights on, white DRL (you can see the LED light makes the fog lamps look amber by comparison!)

Sorry if there was a confusion. I said I didn't have to do anything special for them to work, and that's true, but they are amber DRLs unless Parking Lights or Headlights are ON, in which case they become white. Turn signals and Hazards are always amber.
Sharplight Innovations (formerly Radioflyer) sells a harness so the drl's are white even with the headlights or parking lights off. Suggest you use their LED switchbacks and hyperflash harness as well. I have them and they work great.
