This is my first attempt at buying Chevy. I was quoted a price by a dealer for a ZO6, however there was a cost I was unfamiliar with, some 'national advertising fee' He said this cost was calculated as a percent of the car, and it applies to all Chevys. NE1 hear of this?
Also, while I'm on the subject of cost, I have been quoted around $47K. Is this good?
Welcome to the Forum. :cheers: I have heard of the Fee, but don't remember paying very much for it. Dealers come up with all sorts of things to make a profit. You just have to see what the bottom line is. If you can get a new Z for around $47,000.00, that is a good deal. You might check with some of the Dealers here on the Forum, they might even beat that. Good luck in your search.
Welcome aboard. I can't seem to remember paying for that kind of fee. Got mine from Maxie Price (forum vendor) for $4,500 off msrp. Very easy to deal with. Good luck. :cheers:
Every Invoice on every car carries a charge for advertising, sometimes 2
charges....one local, one national. That is part of the dealer's invoice cost
and is NOT a pass-through to a customer.
Just looked at a ZO6 invoice, two advertising charges, total $512.70;
half for national co-op ads, half for local advertising/marketing.
Yes, we all paid the fee. Several hundred bucks, depending. My dealer hands me the invoice when the car comes in, I pay invoice, plus a little more for his kid's college fund. He CAN NOT drop that fee, unless he decides to sell the car under invoice. It's manadory, as per The General.
And he HATES this fee himself. The national advertising doesn't help him complete in the local market....not a red cent. AND, he has NO SAY in how the money is spent. Yep, he really hates it.
Junkie--Were you addressing that to me? If not, forget it. If so....
........if so, perhaps you you don't understand. This national advertising fee is indeed mandatory. That's the way it is. The dealer *could* cut his price, but that fee must still show as part of the sale, so that GM can skim it.
Do you know something different that justifies your :bs comment?
If you're talking about the dealer I refer people to - they charge $1,000 over dealer invoice and [sometimes] charge an advertising fee. I have not seen them do this to anyone I've referred to them. I always tell people to use my name so if this is the dealer you're talking about you need to get back in touch and tell them how you got the referral.
EVen with the advertising fee though 47k is a good price for an 03.
