Default Rear hatchback heat

What's the preferred method to reduce heat in the rear hatchback area? It really came home to us when our snacks of gummy bears and candy all melted into one big blob on a recent road trip. Is there some kind of insulation you can lay under the carpeting? I believe if we put tortilla chips, cheese and salsa in the back we'd have hot nachos in no time. Which may not be a bad thing if we're also carrying some Coronas in a cooler.

I had the hatch window tinted with 3M film. It cuts down on the suns heat and UV. Seems to help.

Something like Dynomat, a cargo mat and some window tint should reduce temps back there enough to keep things from melting.

That's in interesting issue. It must have a lot to do with the rear hatch window, because I don't have that kind of issue with the hardtop.

I recently used dynamat for my entire interior. Amazing how much cooler it is.
