Was seeking a solution to low air volume from floor vents and read on the forum about a battery disconnect sometimes fixing that as the HVAC somehow re-calibrates when power is reapplied. So off came the 12v cables and out came the battery because I had also read on here about possible HVAC vacuum line damage from Delco batteries leaking on them. I have one of those batteries.
No vacuum line issues I could find but did note two other things. Squirrels love to store their winter rations in the small area under and behind the battery tray ! Shop vac made quick work of that. I also saw that the positive battery cable was chafing on the silver air conditioner component that sits behind and below the battery compartment. It was not quite all the way through the insulation so I covered the damaged area with a piece of split fuel hose, covered the hose with plastic conduit and taped it. I am thinking had that chafed through it would have been spark city around the battery area so finding that was fortunate. After reinstalling the battery, I checked for codes on the DIC and there were none. Fired it up and it actually seemed to start better. Put the HVAC on auto and there was a better flow of air from the floor vents so the recal trick must have worked.
