On my 2000 convertible, my automatic antenna quit working and I want to replace it. The Stubby's will not fit. I have some ideas in my head of options, but I do not know what the
size threads are on the male base. Anyone have any idea?
I do not want to replace the automatic with another automatic or repair the one I have. I would prefer a Stubby style.

you may may not agree with me but, IMO I like it better down, reception is still good
My 2001 Z06 has the automatic antenna, and pretty much the whole mast was missing when I bought the car. So a little while into my ownership I replaced the mast and it's been great ever since.
That said, after replacing the mast I came across a neat conversion product that I wish I saw beforehand:

I swapped my power antenna with this. My only complaint is the antenna is too short and does not pick up anything. Put a 18 flex and it work 100% better. I went through 4 power antenna before I got tire of change them out

Does look better without it, and fact is, I listen to USB, couldn't care less about the radio.
On my Vert, I replaced the original antenna with a factory stock replacement telescoping version. Hated that fn noise every time it went up and down when I started or shut off the car.

just put the antenna down and disconnect the power to it. The shape of The Grommet that you need is such that you're best off just leaving it there. Even if you remove the antenna and then put a dummy plug in where that was, you still need that shaped piece to match up with the Contour of the fender. I did that for a while while I was trying to find a replacement antenna.
