Default Hitch ball - Reese hitch w/rectangular receiver?

My C5 has a hitch on it, and the receiver is rectangular rather than the usual 1.25" square. I am trying to find a part number for the hitch or for the ball so I can get one for it.

I know it's a Reese hitch, because I have a cover that goes between the exhaust and it's branded, but I don't see a part number on the bar anywhere or anything like that.

Anybody ever seen one of these?

AND for all of you who have something to say about a hitch on a Corvette, you can just F.R.O.

Oh, and Google "Drag Week", and see not only Corvettes, but hundreds of hot rodders getting more fun out their vehicle than you "purists".

A trailer hitch belongs on a Corvette about as much as lipstick on a pig...

This one is for a C4, but that's what my receiver looks like. If anyone has any idea, or actual constructive input, I'm all ears.

Some more googling gave me "Reese Shadow Mount" which is I guess what it's called. Now to see if I can find a part number for the ball mount....

i think you are going to have to call Reese, you could probably get one made at a fab shop.

Update.... called Reese and the hitches were called Shadow Mounts. They aren't made anymore, sadly.

I guess I will take my existing receiver to a trailer shop and see if they can build me another one. It doesn't need to have the drop in it like the one pictured above - perfectly straight is fine. Plan is to use a ball-mount bike rack on the back of the car.

I would not modify the hitch. If you went bigger, it would look more obvious. All that drawbar is, is a flat piece of steel. You could easily have that duplicated and drilled for a hitch ball or whatever accessory you want.

Yeah, I meant the draw bar. Not the receiver. Brain fart.

I'll get a new bar made. Won't be a big deal, was just hoping I could buy one and call it a day.

Yes Corvettes pulling small trailers is nothing new. You see them at drag strips and autocross events all of the time.
Some of you guys need to get out of the garage more often.

I am interesting in knowing what part of this message from my 04 manual is not understood by those that put trailer hitches on your C5.

"Towing a Trailer
Your Corvette is neither designed nor intended to tow a
trailer."
