Hi Guys- So I have determined it is not the Harmonic Balancer, no wobble and did the paint test with no Slippage so we are good there.

i saw this kit which would allow me to change both Belts and all Pulleys for $160, seems like a solid deal, if I am going to get in there?

Thoughts on the quality of parts, is as good/better than original?

Worth paying extra for better quality parts purchased separately?

All comments much appreciated

I would recommend you try and track down how and why the noise is happening rather than going the “parts shotgun” method. Even if you replace everything, the noise may come back because there is something else going on. Don’t ask how I know that. Haha.

Fair and good point, but even if I isolate it down to one of the pulleys or Belt, if one is bad, doesn’t it make sense to replace the others proactively at the same time?

And that being said I don’t want to replace good parts with parts cheaper or worse quality parts that may go out sooner?

Aaarghh

You have 5 pulleys, 2 belts, and a variety of other factors that can cause a squeal. Excluding steering pulley.

I would try and identify what and why there is a squeal. Like mentioned above could be a coolant leak from many sources ie tank, pump, cracked hose, leaking clamp, etc. it would a bummer to replace all belts and pulleys and find out a small coolant leak or oil leak was the source. Thus....

If you don’t see any fluids touching any belts oil, steering, coolant....maybe clip the ac belt and see if you still have the noise. That narrows the field.

if it’s still there then you have serpentine issues. If it’s not then you have ac issues.

if you don’t want to go that route at all, then replace all belts and pulleys including h/b. If you’re going this route it’s likely that you don’t want cheap dayco parts. Sounds like you answered this question yourself since your asking about the quality of these cheap parts. I would go oem recommended belts and pulleys except for the h/b which would the ati 917266. You mentioned you just marked the h/b the other day and didn’t notice movement. However, it will take much longer than a few days to see h/b failure when it’s marked.

I’ve had two squeals with my car. Neither were pulleys. One was a coolant leak (water pump) and one was an oil leak (front main seal). It’s important to eliminate leaks and issues before you start throwing parts at the car.
