Default few mod questions

Recently new Z06 owner. I see many owners adding mods for more HP and torque mainly cam, heads, intake. My questions is: that if one was to add these mods in addition to headers and a CAI at what HP and torque do you need to replace or reinforce the other factory parts in the drive train? In other words on average where is the cutoff on HP and torque the rest of the drive train can handle safely before stuff breaks? I'm sure headers, CAI are fine with a tune with an advertised average of about a 38 HP throughout the RPM range. But some of you guys are pulling a heck of a lot more-crazy numbers...trying to get some ideas thanks...

I would say bolt ons that you mentioned you’re fine with perhaps upgraded valve springs. Any time you add boost I would look into strengthening other components.

The whole C5 line is getting old. The answer would be different at 10 years old.
Add 25% to the factory hp and that would be the top hp. Now it would be less.
Bearings, seals, axles, gaskets, etc...age has a way of deteriateing parts. You can
be proactive or chase broken parts. You can keep the old factory clutch until you
fry it or put a aftermarket clutch in. More power costs money. Your vette was
designed for 400 plus hp and you want to increase hp. The entire powertrain and
suspension will need to be altered. This is how your 20k vette becomes a 100k
vette. There is alot more to think about than just hp.
Good luck

Up to around 425whp, you're probably going to be fine with the stock clutch, Robert, maybe even a little higher. As for the rest of the drivetrain, it should be fine too, at those numbers, on normal street tires.

That's good to know Clint and Mellenium. I thought I was missing something. And I guess BIG TIME it's how to treat and take care of the car. Mellenium I live in Rowlett and have a copy of your Z. Let me know if you go to any car shows or cruises.

Small world, I'm in South Garland around the corner from you. Mine is yellow with mod red interior as well. Freaking sweet!

I think you will be fine up to 400+ at the wheels. Stock Z06 is sketchy for spirited use so replace it IF it starts to give you troubles. Don't to drag racing with drag tires cause dumping the clutch on a prepped track will break stuff.

Good Luck!
