Does anyone with a QJ 5000 leave the lifts on the floor and then park their Vette straddling them? I have a QJ 5000 and am trying to save my back from moving and hanging them. The QJ 5000 is 3” high lowered and my air dam is 2 3/4” and I feel the air dam would give in a forward direction but not sure what would happen in backing up. TIA
I have been doing that since day one. I have one jack slid against the garage wall and the other one is under the car. I leave the pump and hoses hooked up. Pump is back by a shelf unit somewhat out of the way.
As far as the air dam is concerned I always back in and put the car on the ramps with the car backed into the garage so I don't have that issue but I do bump into the quick jack under the car ever so slightly with my exhaust. Car is lowered all the way down on stock bolts.
I thought about it but decided to stand them up against the wall. I figured I wouldn't use them a lot but when I wanted to use them for another car it would be easier on me.
I made my own wall bracket and used a ratchet strap to secure them against the wall.
Once you figure out how to lift and balance them they really aren't that bad to handle.
I really like them. So far I have used them on my 03 vert. my wife's suv and my 2020 Silverado 1500.
The Silverado was kind of worrisome because it is totally redesigned and the frame is wider in the back. The 5000 lifted it quite easily but I will use jack stands when I work on it after it's up in the air..
Good luck!
Thanks for the replies...I also back the Vette in the garage so my air dam concern is unfounded. Thanks Mr Black.
Im at stock ride height so hopefully no exhaust interference backing over them. I’ll see how it goes and if need be make up some heavy brackets as Grandpa1 suggests.
I park my Vette over the QuickJacks. Mine is not lowered, a '99 C5 convertible, on Z06 shocks. My car cleared with no problem. However, I wanted to make it easier to slide them in and out (garage floor is concrete and just rough enough that they don't slide easily). So I put them on small three-wheeled dollies so they would roll around easily. But, the car would no longer clear. So I devised a low ramp set up that the car parks on, using pressure treated deck boards. The nice thing is that the stops on the front put the car in the same position every time so set up is pretty quick and easy. The center section of the ramps has handles so I can pull it out from under the car to slide the QuickJacks into place. The parts under the wheels are removable, too, once the car is in the air.
I also built a wheeled cart for the motor and with storage for the blocks and hoses:
