When I got a DD radio I had a pro install it because I didn't want to take a Sawzall to my baby But he asked ME where I wanted the mic for the phone! How should I know? That's why you go to a pro.
So here it is. I rarely use the phone while driving but once in a while the wife calls and that's a priority. Trouble is, she usually can't hear me (the top's always down).
So where's the best spot for the mic? Pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks
I put mine up the A pillar then across to the rear view mirror and right above it so I could point my mouth to the center of the car where wind noise would be the least.

My mic is up by the rear view mirror, even with the targa off it still works great, I did upgrade the mic and did not use the one that came with the head unit.
A-pillar on mine. I have asked a number of people and they say the road noise is nil and the call volume is fine so I have kept it there. I would be pissed if a pro left a mic hanging out of my dash like that!
I recently made a post on my double din install. I mounted the microphone up by the mirror, and ran the wire under the front winshield trim and down the side pillar. It sounds great even with the top down. Placing the mic there and pointed down slightly makes it perfectly in line when speaking. I placed some 3m tape on the bottom side of the u-clip and then slid the u-clip under the header rail.

Not a bad idea I might move mine in to the steering area or along the dash lower somewhere for the road noise never considered it as I don’t really take the top off but nice weather is coming so thanks for the idea !
