Landed a C5Z06
Well I really like the C7. BUT (now my momma said when you say BUT it cancels all statements previous) I don't LOVE it. Fast, yes good looking, yes, tight in the cabin, yes.
So, I began a search for a nice C5Z that would be a mostly track duty car, but street worthy as well. Mods will be minimal, BBK, 18" square wheel/tire and so forth. probably some Corbeau seats and a harness bar.
This C5, while having 91k on the clock had decent care. The paint is nice, interior nice. Surprisingly, it NEVER had any column lock recalls performed. First order of business was to install a LMC5. Now the project aspect. Yellow valve springs. BTR replacements, seals, and rocker trunnion upgrade in the mail. Steering rack has small leaks, both boots show a little fluid on them. Rear diff has a couple leaks. Remote clutch bleeder on order along with a pilot bearing, and I'll decide about the clutch when I go in. I can drop a drivetrain in a couple hours, so actually that is just a shoulder-down job. Oh yea when I went to move the passenger seat, the lift bar was missing. Of course the seat was all the way back, so some of you know how much cussin' it takes to move the passenger seat with no lift bar. Project 2 after the LMC5 was to make a new lift bar.
Other than that, lots of little stuff that 91k on the clock brings. The engine is strong so this will be a fun project to get back to C5's Pic below.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Today a buddy is coming over and we are going to do a complete fluid change including cycling the ABS with my scan tool. This car has the blackest brake fluid I've seen in a long time. The Clutch, ditto, just as black. The clutch will get a remote bleeder in a couple weeks. The Previous owner knew how to polish paint, but it is beginning to look like he only did what he thought was needed maintenance-wise. Brake fluid was not on his list...... I'm sure I will find some other little nits like that.

Welcome back, and enjoy your new ride!
