Default 2003 Z06 valve springs

Guys I normally hang out in C7 group have 17 GS and previous 01 coupe. Question: Have heard and read about the valve spring issues with the C5 Z06. Has anyone actually had an issue or is the issue overblown. Reason I ask is I have opportunity to buy a really nice 2003 and wanted you guys opinion. Would you have them changed or is it overkill and not that widespread of a problem. Thanks

It’s an issue....but not big enough that it should stop you from taking advantage of a good opportunity.

The upgraded springs are inexpensive and it is a 1 day DIY job to change. At the same time you can also change the valve seals, inlet manifold seals, valve cover seals - also cheap

Even if there's a chance the car falls out of the VIN range, it's not an expensive fix at all to have that peace of mind.

Late 2003 models (VINs over 09000) are over 3 times as likely to experience a valve spring failure than the baseline.
The car I am looking at numbers are:
12578 so that tells me it falls into the 3 times as likely per info from stickey, am I reading this correctly? Owner is getting me the build date. Thanks

Build date was 02-03 so in the lower risk but will change if I pull trigger
Thanks to all who responded
