We have a 2003 corvette and like to go on long drives. I am older and have back issues and would like to up grade my shocks for a better ride. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
dan
I don't know if this will help you but I will tell what I did. I have a 98 coupe and it had the F45 Real Time Damping shocks which eventually wore out. The replacements were going to be super expensive to replace. I talked to my mechanic and he suggested Koni FSD shocks which I believe are gas activated. They give a fairly smooth ride unless the road gets really rough. Remember, you are driving a sports car. You will get lots of recommendations on other brands but do some research on these shocks. From what I recall, they have a lifetime guarantee.

LOL At 76 yrs old and back problems I went with C6 Delco Easy Rides from Rock Auto when I changed shocks on my 03 Coupe last year. I'm a cruise about the back roads guy.

A few years back I replaced my stock shocks with stock GM C6 ZO6 shocks. GM Partshouse had a great price back then.My Z51 2000 Coupe loves them and so do I.

Same as mine, tho I did add C6 Z51 sway bars from Gene, perfect combo.

I also added C6 Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 sway bars.....and an Elite Engineering thermal abs of steel tunnel plate....seems like i can now pull 4 Gs around a corner
When the magnetic ride shocks started leaking on our Anniversary, we put in stock Z06 shocks and programmed out the F45 from the ECU car's memory. The replacements for that system were about $600 each . . .the Z06 replacements were a couple hundred installed and IMO, the ride's better with no loss in handling for street use.
I'd say any OEM shock will be just fine -- NAPA, Rock Auto, etc - -I put Bilstein's on a couple of the C5s and C6s- a bit more money and potentially a little better handling but also a but more expensive.
Like many of the others, we put the C6 Z06 shocks and Z51 sway bars on our car. Still young at heart, although not necessarily in years but we think our C5 has a nice ride, and many of our trips are 100+ miles, up to 1200 miles. In addition, it handles better than it did before, so a win-win for us!
