Im 19, i drive a paid off 14 v6 auto camaro. Its time to get real with my love of cars. I am completely torn. My car is worth about 9-11k and i have 9k to spend on top. I love love love the c6(looks, power, interior, everything) but its right at the top of my price range. 20k max. Im having a hard time finding >100k miles, manual, bright color(ive owned 3 dark grey cars and im tired of it), and LS3 C6. Im not really a fan of the LS2 at all. The C5 however, I could get a really great example for like 12k (or less!!) and have a good chunk of change left for mods. Im not in love with the C5 like I am the C6. This will be my first manual and my first legitimate sports car. A 03 c230 kompressor mercedes, a v6 mustang, and a v6 camaro just dont cut it lol. Any opinions help! Thank you.

You answered your own question. You are in love with the C6 so get that one or you'll regret it.
Me, I'm the opposite. I'd get a C5 and mod it with a A&A supercharger kit for less than $19k. The rest of the $ I'd spend on hookers and blow.
From what I have seen here, unless you want a Z06, or a newer GS, or just a really low mile limited model you should be able to find a bunch for under 20k. Good luck, and don't settle. I almost passed on my car for a couple grand, and I am so glad I did not. The one I bought was the only one I saw that I just could not stop thinking about.

Don’t settle for a car and then regret it. Make up your mind what you want in terms of year, options, color, etc. and then start your search for that car. There are plenty out there for sale, including many right here on the forum. Don’t be afraid to travel a distance to get the right one. Be sure to check on insurance rates too before you sign on the dotted line - heck, I do that when I buy a car and I’m a LOT older than you.
You don't want an LS2 but you're okay with a C5 LS1?
If you buy a C5 and then start modding you'll probably end up spending as much money as would have to buy a C6 to begin with so just spend the money up front and be happy. Plus, if the Corvette is going to be your only car and your daily you don't want to start messing around with it and then not have anything at all to drive.
I was in love with C4 2nd generation...I don’t like the c6 face....and I finally settled for a C5...with one of colors scheme I wanted and a decent price.
opportunity was the master.
you want a C6, you are in US, do the homework as said before, I am sure you’ll find a nice one. The C5 is technically very similar in many way. The C5 interior has more charms to my eyes.
good luck in your hunt.

How times have changed..... Anthony has a $10,000 car to sell and $9,000 in his pocket at 19.....I had $90 (that took me 2 years to save) to spend for my first car.....of course that was 53 years ago.... But we are all behind you....go for it!!!
Do you like fixed headlights (C6) or do you like flip up headlights (C5)?
Do you like a more basic looking interior panels (C6) or a slightly more dimensional interior (C5)?
Do you want a coupe (C6) or a Fixed Roof Coupe (C5)?
Otherwise they are pretty much the same car minus the LS1/6 vs LS2/3.
I went C5 because I simply liked the interior better. Then I sought out a C5Z because I could afford it.
If i were you, i'd look at both the C6 base model and the GS/Z06 body styles. Although they look close in pics, they are drastically different in person.
After eyeballing the widebody GS/Z06, the base C6 body looked too "plain and uninspiring" to me.
My thoughts
Get a piece of paper out draw a column
and put the plus and minus of the cars you want.
We don't know what you want, we can only tell you
what we want. There really is no wrong choice, it
is a corvette with a LS engine.
Good luck

I like the flip up headlights a lot but dont hate the fixed on the C6.
I like the C6 interior better.
and definitely a targa top.
Become wealthy by delaying gratification and not buying the car you want at 19. Learn to be frugal and how to invest. Become wealthy at a later date and not have your current stated issue.

There are alternatives for the stock C6 headlights. Many modify the stock buckets, I replaced them with Morimotos. (Styled after the C7 headlamps.) Can't go wrong with C5's or 6's. Boils down to personal preference in most cases.
