Was wondering if anyone uses a dressing on the black parts in the bay to add a little shine. I only use a damp rag with water to keep mine looking good. Do not want to use a product that may cause a fire if gets too hot or something that will discolor the plastic and cause it to collect any more dust than it normally does. Any thoughts appreciated.
while at it, live in Florida where it can be very rainy and is humid most of the time. My shale vert top gets mildew spots every few months. I do a 50/50 cleaning and it looks new again. Tried using 303 waterproofing spray, did not work except water beads off nicely. Any suggestions or is it the price you pay for living in paradise, lol.
I have the Meguiars exterior detail spray that I use to touch up the exterior between washes. I'll use a tiny bit of that on the microfiber cloth to keep the top bits in the engine bay clean. I don't overdo it, just a spritz or two. Doing that whenever I clean the exterior keeps the engine looking presentable, but not overly shiny.
I don’t use anything like that. Over the years I found that it can cause dirt to stick to the engine. I dust mine with a small California Duster. It gives it a cleaner look in my opinion.
Keeping a engine bay clean is a lot of
work. I use
1. New Wave all purpose cleaner
2.Valco Phase 2 detailer
3.Zanio Brothers #6 detailer
4. Mothers Back to Black plastic restorer
5. clean cotton rags, Q tips, artist
brushes,
Good luck (heres my engine compartment)
That is an awesome engine bay. I think if you added a battery cover then it would be AWESOME!
If I was to do the black parts under the hood I'd use this:

My bay looks just likes yours using a damp rag. Also concerned about dust sticking.
Thanks to the rest of you for suggestions. You all have kick *** bays. 😀
Mice, chipmunks, squirrels and other assorted vermin love peanut butter. Did you know that?
April Fool?
No April fool's. In all the years I've been doing this I'm guessing they must hate the kind I use. Using peanut butter is not some new novel concept. Google it, I'm not the only one.
I strongly recommend NOT pressure washing your engine bay. You’re asking for trouble doing that. Light water pressure from a garden hose while avoiding anything electrical is how I do it. Once rinsed, I use compressed air to dry and 303 like other forum members have mentioned.

I use peanut butter in mouse traps and live traps to catch critters. It is the most effective bait I have found. I can not image putting it in a car since it will attract rodents. Damage from mice is pretty common and extremely expensive to fix. Good luck with your peanut butter.

I'm sorry to hear you have critter problem. Good luck with that.
