Default car covers

I have a California Car Cover on my Vette. It has the fleece layer on the underside. Now that spring is approaching, I will hopefully be able to get the Vette out (if we could get a good solid rain to wash the salt off the roads).

The garage where it is parked is new construction, and is therefore VERY dusty. What would be a good method of cleaning the dust off the cover and avoid contaminating the fleece underside? It is too big to wash, and I think it would be bad for the fleece.

Few ideas: Try vacuuming the cover carefully with a brush attachment to remove top layer of sitting dust. You can also buy one of the roller-type lint removers that has a sticky surface. Available in most any drugstore. The dirty section can be torn off the roll for a fresh sheet beneath. May take some time, but roll over the cover and remove what’s topmost. Another idea is to utilize a full size paint roller with deep enough nap sprayed with an “End Dust” or static cling. Same idea. Roll it over the cover to remove as much dust as possible. Dryer sheets work great on dust but they’re small. You may need to have a friend ultimately help you carefully remove / roll the cover off and give it a good ‘ol open-air shaking and hang it. I just bought my first car cover and given the dust that creeps into my garage, I suspect I’ll need to try one of these methods out. Good luck.

I ended up using the vacuum cleaner, I think it worked well. I held the cover taut so that I wasn't dragging the brush across the paint. It picked up quite a bit dust, so it was worth doing. one tire is down a couple pounds, but is ok for driving to a gas station to put more air in. Charging up the battery now, I hope to get it out this weekend.

I keep hearing rumors of the .gov issuing a lockdown order. I guess I will be going on a lot of grocery runs.
