Does anyone know if the radio in the C5 are the same radio for a non Bose radio and a Bose radio? Did they just add some device external to the radio to make it a Bose. I guess the speakers are different between the two radios resistance wise. The reason I ask I want to put a touch screen radio but don't know if the connector adapters between the Bose/non Bose would be different. Thanks.
The OEM headunits are different for Bose and Non-Bose systems. The picture below shows one from a Bose system. It has 4 connectors in the back. The Non-Bose headunit lacks connectors C3 and C4.
A Bose system also includes a Bose Digital Signal Processor (DSP) Box, 8-inch door-mounted subwoofers (each one with a dedicated amp right besides it) and 3½-inch door-mounted twiddlers in addition to the 6½-inch (coupe), or 5¼-inch (FRC-Z06-Convertible), rear twiddlers.
A Non-Bose just have 4 speakers: 1 in each door and the 2 rear ones.
