Ok, I'm thinking about changing my rotors and brakes. I have a 04 CE convertible with 31768 miles on it. I don't race my car just take it out to cruise so what would be the best rotors and brakes to get ?? Thanks.
I don't drive fast or hard. Too old for that.lol
And best place to buy them????

Centric blanks and a ceramic pad of some sort.

Brake Motive is ideal for what you are describing as your driving conditions. They have their own ebay store and always ship fast.

Agreed. The slotted and drilled look quite nice and racy, though they won't necessarily handled heavy racing loads. Great for an aggressive or typical daily driver!

I ran a set of Baer one piece drilled/slotted rotors on my '00 and they were high quality parts. Not cheap though. The BrakeMotive products are very good too at a cheaper price.

Why do you think you need brakes, I own a C6 that last November I replaced just the front brakes, rear are still good according to the oil change I got last week, and the fronts I replaced with 76,000 on them which according to November oil change 2019 had 3% left. . They are original brakes, and not aggressive driver with hard braking.

I replaced my rotors OEM & Wag Ceramic brakes From O"Reilly Auto Parts, and if you were in the Military they will give you a discount.

Ditto. Baer rotors on for many years now, the two piece (aluminum "hat") type on the front and one piece on the rear, along with HPS pads. I got lucky and bought the rotors very lightly used for about 1/2 list price.

@orca13 do you have any issue with your current brakes? They are probably far from being used, and for the usage you describe, they can probably last another 30kmiles. Beside an itch to change ...nothing is due to be changed.
cheapwise you can also go by the Delco rotor at Rockauto, for 50$ a rotor....max.

Get Baer's big-rotor kit with HPS pads. The rotors are two-piece,drilled and slotted,zinc-coated with black hats. They install like stock parts except that you need a 12mm allen socket. They look great and provide a nice increase in braking power (because of leverage). If you have 17" front wheels then you have to get the stock-size front rotors. When you install the rear rotors, adjust the parking-brake shoes outward until you can barely push the rotors over them. Now you will have a stronger parking brake.

Don’t need slotted rotors on a street drive. Just drilled more then efficient for your purpose. Ceramic brakes are best for you.

That's just how they come. I'm not gonna pay more to NOT have slotted because I don't think they need to be there. That seems kinda silly. They don't hurt anything.

That being said, I'm pretty sure if you dig deep enough you can find Brake Motive kits in plain rotors but they're not popular sellers.

one vote here for DBA Brakes street series.... they are an aussie company... I have used them in the past for daily drivers because it seems like most "cheaper street rotors" tend to warp. the street series is a great rotor at a fair price... I at the time.... I was going between ECB and DBA... the DBA rotors were a little cheaper.. so I gambled.... not knowing who DBA was... it was one of those times when I feel it was a great decision.Forum sponsor KNS Brakes sells them for corvettes. one side note.... the brakes I bought were for my mustang... not the vette… but I will replace the brakes on the Z06 with them when they are needed...

Consider some US made rotors

Thinking about doing mine. Both Wilwood and Baer offer US made “sport” rotors for between $100-$135 per. While definitely more pricy, as I drive about 5k per year, they should last a while and justify spending a little more. Surprisingly, Akebono ceramic pads are also made here though not sure about company ownership. I’m sure there are other brands who also offer US made with less bling for less. Shop carefully and you’ll find them. I’m generally very cost conscious but I’m trying to retrain myself to consider things other than bottom-line price. This mentality serves very few well.

For a high quality low dust performance street pad take a look at the Carbotech 1521 brake pads.100% non-corrosive dust will not harm your wheels, paint or rotors. Carbotech brake pads are 100% made in the USA and can be ordered online here Corvette or call me at 216-780-8825. The part numbers you need are front CT731 and rear CT732 Pads are located under section. Use promo code z28 at check out to receive your forum discount. .

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

For rotors I would get some Centric Premium brand rotors plain face.
