While at the factory over Labor day, Dave Hill told us there would be a nice surprise for the 04 C5. Take that for whatever you want. I'm guessing there will be some increase on either base for Z06's or both. But I don't have any "inside" information. Just my guess.
Probably a new color. After the 50th, Hill has as much credibility as the rest of the GM gang.
I considered waiting but went ahead and picked up a new Z06 earlier this week. I love it. The only thing wrong with it is I have to wait for the 500 mile break in period to see how it really goes. I am up to 365 now... Come on 500.

Your goint to be VERY happy with this one my friend! :yesnod: Congrats!
Just hit 500 miles on my new 2003 Z last Saturday. I am impressed. The Z screams. My 99 FRC wouldn't compare. Not in the same ballpark. This car is a keeper :smash:
That active handling is a little annoying though  , of course you can shut it off.....if ya remember.
The Z is way fun to flog. Sets you back in the seat in 1st through 4th. Gotta love it.
I think they are going to be some sort of increase since Bob Lutz announced the other day that the new 2004 GTO is going to have two motor selections. Standard LS1 rated at 360+ and a 400hp LS6....
I heard no power change from my "friend" due to the model change for the C6 :(
I too have heard this. The only change for '04 will be the new body style. I also heard the '05 will have a 6 liter at 425hp and the '06 will have a 6.6 liter at 450hp. Supposedly, GM already has the engines developed. It's a rumor so take it for what it's worth.
We have more EPA stuff coming in 2004 - 2006. Will HP drop a bit again or maybe not go up as fast as anticipated? Maybe the new rules will force GM to bring out the new C6 Vette engine in 2004 to comply with Tier 2? http://www.uscar.org/techno/tier2.htm
I read some Chevy articles based on the improvements made from '01 to '02 Z06 models......and the Engineers said they were NOT trying to gain HP.
BUT ~ the opportunity was there ~ so they took advantage of it during the re-design of the valve train & various engine components. My guess is that the '04 model will still have around 405 and maybe 410hp.....but that all. ;)
