Default Driver mirror

Anyone know where I can get that black plastic frame which has a crack? Or the frame with the glass but not the body colored outer assembly? This is the auto dimming mirror after I took it apart, cleaned out the fluid, and glued it back together. No idea what that burn mark is on the mirror glass.

I see plenty of places I can get stick on mirrors and entire assemblies. I know I can buy the latter and take what I need, but that’s an expensive route, over $100 from what I’ve seen so far. Obviously I’ve resigned myself to give up on the auto dimming feature.

I replaced mine with a factory non dimming mirror. It was a long time ago but it was cheaper and not that hard to replace, it snaps to some pins. I think the one I bought was heated.

I did the stick on 14.00 EBAY and am very pleased with it but my surround was good. Didn't want to tear into it and create more problems.

Yeah it had a crack before I disassembled, the frame actually broke when I was re-assembling. I can't find the mirror glass + black frame/mount by itself. everyone sells the entire mirror housing assembly. Someone said they took the stick on mirror, did the disassembly like I did and then put it all back together. But with it being the heated mirror, I'd need to get the heater transferred over. I know the wiring for the auto dimming doesn't need to come over and it won't work anyway. I guess I'll keep looking, unless I give up and do the stick on even though it's not what I really want.

The "Burn Mark" to which you refer is actually occurring internally. It is an oil leak, the oil being that which is heated when you select turning on the heating element to defrost/deice. It will continue spreading until it encompasses an entire outer ring, which is when you've used all the oil.

In the end I decided to replace the mirror / black frame with the non auto dimming but heated part. If only I could snap it in correctly. The controls to adjust it make noise (motors) but the mirror doesn't move consistently.

Exactly why I went with stick on. Hope u get it sorted out. Froggy has a youtube how to, google it. Your pins aren't seated is my guess or not lined up and seated.

ok I got it figured out. The pieces that stick up with the springs on them need to be on the mirror before you snap everything together. I had them on the motor and they were shoved all the way in, so they didn't reach. I'd take a photo but that would mean removing from the car again.
