Default How much is it worth?

Hey everyone. I got an offer on a trade for my Chevelle that I have listed. I'm asking 13.5k for the Chevelle. I've gotten a lot of offers for 10k to 11k but I'm holding out a little longer. Anyways I got an offer on a trade for a 2004 c5 with 167k miles on it. It's an automatic. It looks to be very well taken care of. My question is how much would you feel it's worth? I've never been much of a Corvette guy but this is pretty nice!

Do Corvettes retain their value well? Is this year range going to be going up in value? I ultimately want a Shelby cobra kit car, so I was thinking about driving this around for fun for a couple years then maybe flipping it into something that I really want. Any info you can give me would be great! Thanks again

That does look like a nice C5. Just a ballpark figure on a 04 with 167K miles would be around $16K but that can go up or down depending on location. I see it has both tops which is nice to have.
As far as resale, I think the C5 has got to be close to the bottom but will stay that way a LONG time before the price starts to go up.
Go for it

This was also his description of it. I asked for the good the bad and the ugly

I can do the good. No bad or ugly present. Car is rock solid, adult owned, meticulously maintained, and I may be a little biased but I think it's the nicest C5 I've seen around. New CCW trueflow staggered wheels, 20" rear, 19" front, brand new Pirelli rubber on all 4 corners, 3:42 gears, tinted windows, tinted top and factory matching white top included, new Lloyd's Corvette floor mats, new LED head lights, high and low beam, new LED daytime running lights with new angel eyes housings, K&N cold air kit, transmission was just completely gone through at Ed's transmission in Marysville, complete tune up less then 2k ago, new Bose factory speakers replaced throughout, drivers package with adjustable suspension and holographic heads up display always shows the info you need without ever having to take the eyes off the road. The only thing I can put in the "Bad" category would be the car is bad ***! I may be a bit biased but in my opinion theres not a nicer C5 around my area that I've ever seem! Definitely no ugly about the car. Gets tons of compliments! Title in hand with 2 sets of keys and ready to deal if the right car comes along!

What year and condition is your Chevelle? $13,500 sounds pretty cheap, unless the car is rough.

Trade with 167k miles on any car is pure robbery. Dont be fooled because it's a Corvette.

I say 2k for the vette plus 14k cash

From the pictures, that C5 doesn’t appear to have wheels on it. Must be sitting on blocks I’d make sure it runs.

If it does run and the owner can supply wheels and tires I’d say you should still ask a little more trading your Chevelle.

What are you talking about? The rims are just black, but they are clearly visible in the pictures.

To the OP, I would get a presale inspection before making the trade. If everything checks out like the guy says, this is worth 15K-16K. The C5 is currently at the bottom of its depreciation curve, so it won't drop too much below that if you keep it nice. The value will eventually go up, but that's going to be years from now.

Thanks guys. Even with the high mileage you think it will still go for 15 to 16k? That was my only real concern. If I just use it as a weekend driver on nice days I won't be putting a ton a mileage on it. And if I can still get 15 or 16k for it q few years from now I feel like this is a no brainier. Ive had my Chevelle for 20 years. I had every intention to make it right but life and work and kids just got away from me. It runs and drives, 1972, 454, th400 and a 12 bolt. Has some rust in the wheel wells and needs a headliner. I feel like this is a pretty good deal and it's the strongest offer I've had in 4 months

C5 book value is 4 digits, but that’s just the book not reality.

You’re buying on condition and emotion, just like he is with your Chevelle. Chevelles can easily book higher than a C5 right now, condition/options reign.

High mileage usually kills the value of Corvettes, look into it.

So you would want more money if he includes the Vette than if he bought the Chevelle outright.

C5's have been and will continue to depreciate. I wouldn't want to be the seller of this one with 167k miles. There are lots of better C5's available for less money.

$2,000 is way too low

$16,000 is way too high.

It's high mileage. It's an automatic. Both lower the value a little bit in the current market. I can't give you an exact number, but even if everything is working perfectly NOW the value is somewhere in the 4 digit range.

I'd say $7,000 absolute max if it had every option I wanted and I was looking for THAT car. Dig through the classified section here to get an idea of what a high mileage automatic C5 goes for. My vote is somewhere around $5,000. But I can guarantee you won't ever be flipping that car for a profit.

Id want some cash probably, but Im assuming your price is fair on chevelle. Would probably need more details on your car. I had a shot at 2 manual c5 coupes with much lower mileage for 14k and change. I would not buy that c5 for 13.5k.

Sell your Chevelle and go find another C5 with the cash. You can do better than what you are considering. Good luck to you!

No way in hell I'd trade an even decently clean Chevelle (unless it's a 1976 with 4 doors...lol) for a high mileage auto C5. I don't care what book values say, I would immediately regret that trade.

Maybe the pictures are doing something to my eyes, but that looks like an average condition, high mileage C5? Being clean for how many miles are on it is a different thing than the car being in good condition.

Any pics of the Chevelle? You very well might have some interested buyers/trades here...
