After spending almost 9 months at my mothers garage due to space limitations while remodeling my current abode, I brought my FRC back home. Before leaving my mothers garage I pulled off my CCW’s which had tires that were questionable and installed my Z06 rims with much fresher tires and it was a night and day improvement. It made the 2 hour drive home much more enjoyable.
Due to family obligations the car hasn’t been driven 1,000 miles in 3 years and I had forgotten how much fun driving this car can be. It’s still dirty from its slumber but I did recharge the battery and the air conditioning today before a spirited trip to Lexington to top off with some 93 octane. I had some fun with an Audi TT on the way home. I have several miles of twists and elevation changes on the road leading to my home and I don’t think the Audi driver thought the old guy could or would hang with him. Hope to do it again soon but I do have a list to make out of maintenance issues to tackle. Looking forward to that too.
Yes, it's easy to forget how good modern cars are. I find I am regularly driving our 2017 family AWD barge at higher speeds than the C5 on the same stretches of road. It handles well, and it's ultra quiet so on the highway there is almost no sensation of speed.
Cool story, but I'm sure the TT driver barely knew you were there. She was probably watching tiktoks or something.
Curious about the ac recharge, did you do that just because or did you have low pressure in it?
I assumed it was low due to poor cooling, actually felt like no cooling. I had a can of Freon that comes with the gauge and connecting hose so I decided to give it a go. The system took the whole can and the cooling returned to excellent. I guess the next few months will reveal if I have a more serious problem.
In this case the TT driver knew I was there. We were stopped at a country intersection a few miles from my house and there are no high speed straights, just curves and abrupt elevation changes. He turned left and took off at a much higher rate than he had been driving so I gave chase just for fun, never got out of 3rd gear. As I said all in fun. If I haven’t had other things to tend to I would have not turned off at my house and continued to follow for another 4 miles or so where the curves end and city police protection begins.
I hope it as a male driver as the hairy arm I saw hanging out the drivers window would have to been attached to a scary woman.

Probably a hairy woman. It's a TT, lol. Maybe part werewolf.
Nice ride and hope you still get plenty of behind the wheel time this year.
lm going to make it a priority to take it out at least once a week! I have some mods to do that would have the car down longer so they will wait till winter.
