So this thread and the pics got me motivated to do something about my dingy, dull, and corroded alternator on my '99 convertible. I've had a new replacement alternator on the shelf for over five years, anticipating the original eventually failing. However, that original is still doing its job after 21 years and 83K miles, but, as noted, it is dingy looking. So, today I got the new one off the shelf, hit it with the Dremel and some polishing pads and wire brushes to shine it up a bit and installed it. Also cleaned up as much of the alternator bracket and throttle body as I could get to without removal. Definitely better . . .

Haha these threads will do that to you! I really want a new alternator bracket! Mine is so ugly
take it off, sand the casting marks off the visible areas, and have it powdercoated... it will look 100% better
Nevee thought of that, all depends on the cost. I'm on a limited income. That's why I thought about buying a new fancy pants one. (Basically a painted one..)

powdercoat would be around $50 at most, maybe less... the rest is just your time and labor, in the end it will be cheaper than the cost of a new bracket

How do you keep this clean with that oil fill hole filter you are using to alleviate crank case pressure without a catch can? Looks nice!
Thank you . It never really gets too dirty and I do have a catch can, it is mounted near the oil dipstick. You can also see hoses routed behind the supercharger.
