So unlike many, my sun visors look pretty decent. However the hinge that holds the mirror cover on the driver's side visor is broken. I ordered a replacement from Eckler's. They went into this whole thing about they are the exact EOM part from the OEM supplier. They talk about how they are an EXACT match right down to the numbers on the air bag decals. However, when the replacement arrived, I quickly noticed that although the quality was probably better than the original that the material is not the same as what is on the stock sun visors. As I didn't want non matching visors, I went ahead and ordered a second sun visor off of Eckler's. I've read descriptions, and watched 2 different YouTube videos on how to do the swap. It looks very easy and straight forward. However, I have had absolutely NO luck trying to get the old visors out. I have tried on several occasions, and have now spent a total of about 2 hours trying. I have been using a screw driver and turning the sun visor just like both videos I've watched. However, the piece just won't turn. I've tried different screw drivers, and actually bent one of them!! I managed to scratch the vinyl on my A pillar one of the times the screw driver popper out of the slot. I've also left several marks on the arm of the sun visor (which in theory will be replaced). This thing just won't budge. I've tried briefly on the passenger side, and that one isn't any better. I've done real mechanical work on the car, and am usually pretty good at this sort of thing. I've reached the point that I'm actually considering taking it to a shop. I just don't understand why something so incredibly simple is giving me so much trouble. Does anyone have any sort of trick that I'm missing? Is there actually a specialized tool (not just a flat head screw driver) that can be used for this? Someone help please!
Unlike you, my passenger's sun visor came out on first try. That gave me some needed incentive to not let this 'simple task' get the better of me.
I let a few days pass before trying again. I have to admit, some very colorful words were spoken before the driver's side finally came out.
Keep trying. They will come out. BTW, I decided I liked not having them so I am sun visor free.

Thanks for the encouragement! I've been thinking about it, and I might try a flat head socket on a long arm socket wrench when I get home.
I replaced my visors last year and so my recall is less than perfect, but I do recall that getting a screwdriver that best fit into the slot was critical (I know you tried that, but keep trying).
I struggled with the passenger side and using the old visor as a lever, it took a lot more force than I thought it should (thinking I'd never get it out). The screwdriver that worked on the driver's side kept slipping out of the slot on the passenger side and sent me back to my tool box until I found a screwdriver blade that fit better. When it did release it did so with a bit of an "eek" and then I was able to rotate it. Also, the bezel pulled out of its mount when I removed that visor (it wasn't broken and I was able to reuse it).
So I say take another shot at the removal with screwdriver blade the fits into the slot well and one that can't be bent and give it "heck," It has to come out. As you no doubt saw from the videos- the visor needs to align with the triangular cut out once aligned with that cut out, it can then pulled out. Good luck.
