I came back to the dealer and test drove the car one last time.
Turns out it was a user error. First gear did not pop out once. I made sure to firmly put it in gear and it never popped out on me. So I can gladly rule the synchros are fine.
But! I did not take the deal on the car. I am going to play with the dealership to see if they can give me a better deal as the car has been sitting there for a while. Time will tell, if anything I will keep you all updated.
Thanks
I think this is probably a good car for you. There are several aftermarket things done, but nothing really crazy. The reason it is missing the cup holder cover is that the center bezel was replaced to make room for the double din stereo unit. This is generally considered to be an upgrade. The CAI is also a nice addition. The car has door sill protectors, which tells me that it was likely well cared for. The dealer has already knocked $1K off of the car. Personally, I think it's a good car for a good price. Also, from what you've said, you seem to be happy with it. That is the most important thing. If you like it, I would buy it, and enjoy the heck out of it. With that said, there are plenty of C5s out here.
