So I'm hoping to find a mount that can serve multiple purposes for my car. I obviously want to be able to use it to play media and use it for directions when necessary, so it needs to be able to mount within reach, but I would also like to use it as a dash cam for my morning commutes. In my wrangler I have a hard mount that clamps my Iphone 11 pretty well, to the point it's my dash cam when I go rock crawling and I am not friendly to my jeep on the trail. So I'm looking for something that maybe I can hard mount myself on the dash that will allow the phone to sit horizontal for camera and maps, but vertical for media. Does anybody know of any mount that can do this and maybe sits right above the center air vent?
So far I have broken 2 mounts that sit on the windshield, and have found nothing that will last more than 2 months even though I spent $30 on the last one.
thin magnet goes on back of phone, magnetic mount gets taped wherever you want. My car spends a lot of time in the sun which caused the tape to loosen up and fail eventually. A sun shade should prevent that though.
To clarify, multiple days of 8 hours in the sun at 100 degrees caused it to fail. In my opinion it’s the best mount if you can avoid the absolute hottest days

Yeah I don't have a garage to park in at the moment, so that would not benefit me as of now. It looks like I may have to come up with something on my own cause I dont want to have to remove it whenever I park it. I appreciate the effort though.
I have this one right above my center air vent. Sticks really great to the leather. May not be exactly what you are looking for but taking turns at 40mph and it doesnt slide around at all. I love it. Mostly cause its not a cheap clip on an air vent. You can move it easily and it sticks VERY well.
Look into the ram mounts "tough-track". you screw the track in the dash and slide in various mounting devices. ram mounts supports many types of mounts. its a pretty cool system. you can get different lengths. i bought the 8" one for my taco. similar to what this guy did. starting around 8:40 he talks about dash mounts.

How well does this mount hold up to forces? I have slung my phone out of 2 different mounts in the vette, and right now I'd like to not destroy my Iphone 11 while taking corners lol
This may be more involved than you want, but it sounds like a good double din system would function really well for all the things that you're looking to do. You can purchase a modified bezel to make it fit and look clean. There are many models that support apple car play or iOS. This would take care of your both your media and navigation needs. The right setup would also allow you to connect both forward facing and rear facing cameras. Basically, this would do everything you'd want your phone to do and more without having to deal with mounting and unmounting your phone. It also won't obstruct your view of the road, and IMHO just looks better.

I don't really know. I'm not driving the taco at warp speed. I suppose it depends on what fasteners you use. I would use bolt/nut combo for the corvette. That should hold up to track use.
