With Collectors you have to prove its value to the Underwriters.
They told me I could insure for more.
Not gold plated but more race car.
Yeah, I had to prove the value of my cars by taking LOTS of pictures for NCM. Interesting, I did not with Hagerty. I guess they take NCM's estimates as proof.
Hagerty used to have some really stupid rules. When I tried to insure my 1991 Callaway Aerobody ZR-1 with them in 2002, my daily driver vehicle couldn't be over five years old. WTH does that have to do with anything?
If they were the last insurer of classic cars on earth, they wouldn't ever get my business. Just sayin
What I hate about these insurance threads, is they tend to descend into pissing contests. "My insurance company can beat up your insurance company." lol
Different states, different cities, you just can't compare "apples to apples".

Clint, you're absolutely right...It really boils down to "apples to apples". I used to think a lot less of Hagerty 20 years ago, and I had a lot more respect and confidence in USAA back then as well...My oh my have things shaken up in the insurance world since then. The regional thing is something I doubt I will ever understand, when it comes to insurance. One company makes you feel like a sweepstakes winner, and another opinion makes you feel like you just had a train run over you.
In my view, insurance is a necessary evil, and I don't have brand loyalty in that realm...When I feel like I'm not seeing any benefits, and my rates are rising, when I haven't done a damn thing to cause that, it's time to move on. Ride it while it's good, and then move on to someone else.
It really depends on how much you drive your vette. If you drive less than 6k per year then you cannot beat NCM prices. But if you drive more than 6k look elsewhere. I have NCM 19k agreed value and pay 220. Per year.
What company did the NCM agents sign you up with? This is a very good rate...
After 21 years of a spotless driving record and one-way loyalty, I dumped USAA.
The 2013 Z06 has an agreed upon value of $45,000 (and the Book Value actually went up a little more). I paid $949 per year, paid in full upfront ($79.00 monthly). Full coverage. 100/300/100 (I think) and I get to drive it I think 5,000 miles per year (which I never do anyways).
I think the Hartford beat Hagerty by a few dollars but I already paid for the year.
Hagerty or Hartford!! Just see which one bundles best for your needs.

I agree with you. Every classic/collector insurance company refuses to insure my either of my C5s because I don't have a car which is less than 10years old. Even NCM won't insure it. I hate insurance companies with a passion. A side note: When I spent time in Ukraine, I learned that no car insurance is required there, and virtually none is available (only a few of the weathiest in the capital, Kiev, were starting to get it for their expensive cars).
Yep, American Modern through NCM for me also. On my '03 it is $272 a YEAR with a $20,000 value on the car. NO-ONE could come close to that rate. A no-brianer for me!!
After reading some of these posts where the yearly rate is between $2-$300.00 and I'm paying around $550.00, I checked the various companies out. What I found is that all of them have
what I consider to be severe restrictions on when and how often one can drive their Corvette as well as high deductibles. I realize that there is a substantial difference between say, $250.00 and $550.00 but with my policy I can drive my car any time, as often as I want, with very low deductibles, as long as it's not used as a daily driver. To me these features are worth the extra money. So if I want a Philly cheesesteak on a Sunday afternoon while I watch the Philadelphia Eagles lose another game, I jump in the Vette and go get one without worrying if some idiot
T-bones me at an intersection... In the end it's all whatever policy works for you and what you can easily afford.

I find this interesting as I've had both the NCM insurance and the Hagerty insurance policies and I don't have a car that is less than 10 years old. I own five vehicles and of them, my 2002 C5 is the newest (18 years old). They both insisted I have a daily driver that was not insured by them though.

I am interested to know more about this, too. I am assuming you are saying that your daily use vehicle is older than 10 years? What year/make/model is your daily use vehicle?
Um....$75K C5? Gold plated? I thought I was bad at insuring my 02 C5 at $40K
That being said, I have State Farm for my daily drivers (black 99 C5 and two Expeditions) and JUST switched from NCM to Hagerty for my show cars (02 C5, 99 C5, and 91 Eagle Talon)
I pay about $35.00 per month for my car but we have 3 other vehicles on the policy too. I also remove the coverage over the winter while its up on the lift and not driven. If the house burns down, I may be looking for a new Vette but I’ll take that chance.
