I live out in the boonies so I have a 200 gal gas tank (and a diesel tank as well) on my property. I fill up my vehicles at home and it is very convenient.
The gas is just regular 87 octane though. I'd like to be able to fill up the Vette so was thinking I could add octane booster to the regular gas. Has anyone done this?
Is it as good as running 91?
Any particular brand better than others?

It will run on the 87 (but it is suppressing knock and performance).
It will run better on 93.
It wont run any better on above 93.
Ive never used octane booster, but if you could add just enough to make what you put in the vette 93....you should be golden.
I personally would never use 87 octane in my C5s, especially in my supercharged one. But, it would get expensive quick to boost every tank full as the quality octane boosters cost big $ over time. The previous owner of my 98 (I've sold it now too) use octane booster in it for track days. I still think I have a can or two of it. It was a high performance C5, a supercharged 383 with 767 rwhp.
The other downside of octane booster is that it does not burn cleanly and will leave behind orange deposits, which can reduce life of O2 sensors, cats, spark plugs and just sticks to everything. IMO not a problem running once in awhile but I wouldn't want to run it every tank.
Running 93 octane pump gas > 87 octane pump gas + octane booster > 87 octane pump gas by itself.
You CAN run 87 octane by itself, but I really don't recommend it Adding octane booster to get the 87 up to 93 is certainly a better option than just running the the 87. However, as mentioned by others, this will leave deposits, and can get expensive. If you must do this, I would make sure to use some Techron every 3-5 thousand miles. That will at least help clean things out a bit. I would certainly fill up on actual 93 octane pump gas whenever possible. If you can, get 93 octane with no ethanol added.

That exist?
Here in Iowa it's hard to find 93 octane and when I do it's always 10% ethanol. I can find 91 octane sometimes without ethanol but it cost more than the 93 octane. Currently, I have to drive 15 miles to get 93 octane and of course, another 15 miles to get back home
Okay, sounds like I should just fill up at the pump instead of at home. I don't drive the car that often and when I do it is just for a pleasure drive or for a blast on the twisties so no big deal to go to a gas station I guess.
Thanks for the replies.
Iowa has speed shops. Find one and buy racing gas.
They sell it by the barrel and less. That will improve
your 87 octane fuel.
It's not cheap.
Good luck
All gas starts out as 87 octane. The fuel depots put additive packages in the tank trucks to make mid grade and premium. I'd do a little internet research to find out what they use to make 93, and then see of those chemicals are available for retail. Would sure be cheaper than buying octane boost by the bottle.
