So long story, but my stock 98 key fob will not train on the car. Happened to find another used 98 fob on ebay (same p/n & fcc id) and it wouldn't work either. I have working TPMS so I do not think my receiver needs replaced. I have spent time and all kinds of methods to get either of the fobs to train and they just wont, yes new batteries too. Anyways, I am kinda giving up on the fobs completely. My question is, when I lock the car from the drivers automatic door switch and unlock the drivers door with the key, the alarm goes off. Is there any way around this? I dont mind manually unlocking the door with the key but I would like to be able to lock the car without the alarm going off every time I unlock the door. I guess I could pull the horn fuse, but that's not a long term solution. I know I can stop the alarm by putting the key in the ignition, but I dont want the alarm going off every morning when I leave for work.
This is good advice I have a '98 and this is exactly what I did to upgrade. New 2003 receiver: $35.00 - Contemporarycorvette.com - new TPMS from Amazon were $160.00 but prices vary greatly from others. Two new key fobs from Ebay - $10.00. Wiring in the receiver is very easy as all wires from early cars match with later models. Simply splice them in... GOOD LUCK with whatever you decide.
