How much do you want to spend? You can get a set of OEM seats for varying prices (anywhere from $300 - $1,000). I also did a post about cheaper alternative Amazon seats. It all depends on how much you want to spend and if you want factory or aftermarket.
The biggest factor is how much you want to spend. On this forum I've seen people installing C6 or C7 seats into their C5. The C6 seats looks more comfortable but I could be wrong. I would think the C6 seats would also be cheaper. They make a plug and play wiring connector to match right up with the C5's wiring harness for either C6 or C7https://vetteworksonline.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=83
I put c6 seats in my c5. They fit great and are alot more comfortable. I used the harness in the link above for power. I found my c6 seats on facebook for $500.
Highly recommend C7 seats but finding a decent set can be difficult. Day and night difference compared to C5 seat. The majority of the ones on ebay are total crap (e.g. tears, stains, gouges, scratches) for the prices they are selling them at. One thing to be aware of: C7 seats may not be for everyone because they are wide and due C5 seat belt, there is a limit to how far you can put them back. I have heard going to a C6 seat belt setup may relieve this. I'm 5'8" and don't have a problem at all.
From an aftermarket perspective, Corbeau A4s are a popular and economic option at $1200/set for the black leather version. Another more expensive option are Caravaggio C5 sport seats at $3400 which are entirely rebuilt seats off the original C5 seat frame so the power controls are maintained. Caravaggio claims that they fix the rocking seat issue and also incorporate better padding, support frames, and denser memory foam underneath their custom (Ferrari-style) skins.
Do you know anything about the back support of the seat? ie: Is it a strong support or a fiberglass support like on the C5 seats? Did you need to make modifications on the seat or rail? I understand the wiring can be a plug"n play situation, is this true or do you know? Thanks.
Do you know if the C6 seats have strong back support, unlike the C5, or if they offer better support? Thanks
The c6 seats are definitely better made and are heavier. The backs are solid. They also offer more side support but not quite as much as racing seats. I'm kinda of a bigger guy. I have very wide shoulders and cannot get comfortable in after market racing seats but the c6 seats are perfect for me. If I was a slimmer build I would have gone with the Corbeau or Braum seats.
Are they sold out? They have them on the website I linked to.

Click on the website I posted in answer #4. Yes, plug and play.

.
Sure, they say they say they have them but trust me, he (Dan) does not actually have them in stock. I've been waiting for months now and he just keeps telling me that he is waiting for the supplier even though he was paid.
He needs to de-list them and stop taking payments until he actually has some he can sell.

I spoke with Dan last week, he said the parts came in and he's working on the harnesses. I believe he said he has to test the c5->c7 plugs to make sure he gets the telescoping steering right.
He's been pretty communicative with me.

Good to know, thanks for the update!
You've obviously spoken with him more recently than I have
Just put new foam in my C5 seats. Threw a piece of carpet between the spring/wires and the foam. Quite comfortable now. An often overlooked alternative. $299 for a complete set.

Did you do the work yourself? Did you also install new skins?

While the C6 seats look bulkier and definitely feel more solid, they're actually not much more than a few pounds heavier. I weighed mine when I switched them out. IIRC they were ~5 lbs heavier per seat. This was C5 Sport power seats vs fully loaded C6 3LT seats. I'm probably an average build (5'11" ,180-190 lbs) and the inflatable bolsters in the C6 seats do come in handy.
If you're patient and vigilent, some good deals on C6 seats pop up on occasion. C7 seats are nice, but I had no interest in paying anywhere near what they go for lol.
I just finished putting C6 seats in my C5. The C6 seats were full power, my C5 seats were full power and I purchased the adapter from vetteworks.
The adapter took about 2 weeks to arrive and it was plug n play. I was extremely happy with how easy it made the hookup until I found out the telescoping wheel doesn't work. I didn't mind not having memory but the wheel being all the way in is something I don't like. Dan from vetteworks told me as well that he's working on a solution but I couldn't get a timeframe. I have to wonder if someone has figured out which slot on the adapter power could be added to to get it
to work.
The only other thing I had to do was remove the C6 seat belt receivers and bolt my C5's in their place. I also had to cut off a threaded stud on the outside of the seat near the hinge so the seat could slide all the way back, the stud hit the trim where the belt slides out.
It's an amazing change in comfort, wish I would have done it along time ago.
