I got some decals for my wagon wheels and was wondering if there's any special way to put them on. Seems I read about some dishwashing liquid or do I just stick them on? No directions were included.
I saw that mod on a set about 15 years ago but have no idea on how to apply. Probably very little input available for a set of wagon wheels. Mine have been in boxes for ten years.

I would think that something like detail spray would work or the dishwashing soap in some water would work too, Or just carefully stick them on, but a wet application may work best.
There were a couple of things people used to do. One was a black decal that attached to each spoke, to get rid of the SUV-like "wide spoke" optic - made them look like "twin spokes", and the other was to paint the wheels black, but with polished rims. I almost did that after I saw a silver C5 (which is what I have) with those wheels, along with a black wrapped "B" pillar hoop and roof panel. Looked really good.

Cool...
This is the split spoke style.
Take the backing off the decal...not the decal off the backing. 1 gallon per instructions is way overkill...a half gallon is more than enuf. They give you some extras in case you totally goof. Takes about 20 minutes. I just did mine and waiting an hour or so to dry.

I think I might be the only one left who really like's his wagon wheels. It's unique now, since most C5 owners have gotten rid of theirs. I'll keep mine.
To Michael Clemans who posted above, well that makes at least two of us! I'm still running chromed wagons on my '99. Certainly not the popular look but I like them. I've considered going to newer styles a number of times but in the end the wagons have won out.

There are probably more of us but not as many. I've considered the move to a "new" look as well but then I go back her outa the garage for a ride and can't stop smiling. Keeping the wagon wheels but will probably upgrade the stereo.

I am there too... worse...I would love to have 96 saw-blade wheels...too late now since I have two season sets.

For such a simple fix its a vast improvement....
I would still like to meet members of the design team and the person who actually signed off to put those wheels into production...
I think this is him...
its a set of stickers to mod the wagon wheels to look like twice as many spokes, and thinner. see the link below. some pics show stock wagon wheels and some show with the stickers installed https://www.google.com/search?q=c5+w...w=1366&bih=657
