Yes my memory is slowly fading. NOT in my C5, the one in my head!!! So today we went for a nice ride with the top down. 75-80° outside. Wife spilled a small amount of water on passenger seat. Stupid me, she brought me a paper towel to dry the leather. I had pulled the key & fob, and placed the unit in my lap, as I wiped the seat with the paper towel. Sure enough, I forgot the fob was in my lap, and when I got out of the car, the damn thing fell and hit the cement floor from waist height. It worked when we left on the ride. Of course, now it doesn't. I pulled the battery, & it still showed 3.1v, so I put it back in-Still nothing. Won't even program. So, other than trying the cold solder repairs as the forum advises, has anyone else dropped theirs, and maybe knows what broke? Any help would be great. I have a 2000 MY Vert. It has the part # 10432147. Please-HELP!!!!!!
I read your post again and see that you've tried the program, so yeah, maybe you'll need to get another one. The later ones are fairly cheap for your year car I think.

I thought they were. Seems everything for 97-2000 C5 electronics is more $$$!! I see its harder to find the #10432147 Fobs, which is what my # on the back is. Wondering if the later part # Fobs are any better as far as transmitting distance and durability is conerned?

I believe the 01-04 FOBS are totally different than the earlier C5 ones and will not work without other parts replacement. I could be wrong but that is what I thought I had read here on the forum.
I would just try and find a FOB off e-bay as others have mentioned.

Thank to all that helped. I have 2 Fobs. 1 had lost its ability to retain the programming, the other was the one I had been using, the one I dropped. So yesterday I tried the cold solder repairs recommended on the forum, on both Fobs. But I only have 1 battery, so I tested one Fob, and it works!!! This AM, I tried it again, and it still worked. Must have retained the programming!!! So I'm getting another battery, and will try it on the 2nd remote later this week when I get the battery as we pick up our groceries. I dont want to split the remote that's working. But-So far, so good!!
Glad you were able to resolve your issue. I have unfortunately dropped my fob several times. Luckily, it continues to work without issue.
I've dropped mine quite a few times, too. This time was once too many, I guess. But thanks to you guys on the Forum, I believe the surgery (soldering!) is successful on Fob #1. I'm getting another battery tomorrow for Fob #2. I've resoldered both Fobs at the 6 points on the circuit board that I've seen on the Forum. The first is working fine, and retaining its programming. Tomorrow I'll install new battery in Fob #2, and report back ASAP. Thank you, all....
I'd say you nailed it. The vast majority of failed FOBs that I see are due to broken soldering on the board. If it worked once and then the following day I'd say you're in the clear!
Good work by the way, the amount of electronics repairs that only require some simple soldering is amazing. If we weren't such a throw-away and buy new culture these days I'd think a guy could make a decent living on small repairs.............. :-\

Update! One Fob has continued to work since my soldering surgery, lol. BUT-With my solder repair, and a new battery in place, the 2nd Fob still refuses to program. I'll try again, and solder more tabs on the chips, but its starting to look like $80-$100 for a new one. Too bad, because this Fob was almost brand new, with all buttons clearly legible. Like the commercial, " Just one look, was all it took", except in my case "Just one drop, and it went Pop"!!!
