285s? I would go 315s, or at least 295.

I think 285s are enough meat for the power I am looking for. Maybe by the time I am ready for the 2nd set of tires I will want more grip. But for now 285 will work. I'm not fond of having such a massive tire up front but I am definitely all about the square setup. Having monsters up front must put extra strain on the power steering system...

Welcome!

as an rx7 owner I much prefer the looks of the c5. Part of the reason I hate the tiger shark kits for the c5 is because it makes them look too much like an fd.

you made a great choice, enjoy the car!

I went with 315/30/18 Michelin PS II tires in the rear, on my 2000 Vert back in 2005. Great tire, and pretty grippy. Still have them in the garage, virtually no tread left. You'll do very well to get 25,000 miles out of them. But they're a great tire. Pretty much a Grand for 2, tax, mounted, and balanced. I had to get aftermarket 10.5" wide "thinspokes" to mount a tire that wide to keep the stock appearance. But, as I'm sure you know, you already have the 10.5 wheels stock. Mine cleared the inner fenderwell by maybe 3/8". Slightly less clearance on one side, don't remember which. Seeing as 295s are stock on your car, if it was me, I'd go with 315s. Thats my opinion. You do have more options on aspect ratio on 315 wide tires now than I did 15 years ago. The 30 aspect ratio was pretty much it on 315s then, and they worked fine on my car without triggering the AH. But nowadays, I think they make 315/35/18s. Just sayin, and good luck......

Well considering I am going square I am pretty sure I dont want to go so wide up front. I want to avoid poking at the front. I would rather have it flush up front and use some small spacers at the rear to get it flush.
I hear a ton of good things about the PS2's. I know they are pricey but 25k miles is pretty damn good. Thanks for your input.

Yeah no kidding I'd be happy to get 25k out of a set of tires.

I went with the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 last time and really liked their wet performance, but I got 12,000 miles out of them. Which, I mean, that's not bad either considering I daily drive the car and that's with two track days and four autocross events on them, too - but still.

Next year my goal is a dedicated set of track wheels/tires. The wallet grows thinner.... just like you said lol
