Air filter quandary
I picked up a 50th Anniversary vert with an automatic the end of October, this is the second Vette I have had the privilege of owning. 84 thousand in near mint condition! Bought it from my brother in law (wifes brother), he got it from a gentleman in Texas that my BIL described as having a 'car compound'...climate controled buildings!
So the car is almost bone stock except for a CIA of unknown manufacturer. It is the 'dual snorkel' type, pictures attached.
When we went to pick up the in Arkansas, we live in Iowa, I ofcourse saw the CIA and mentioned it. BIL said it was on the car when he bought it so he knew nothing about it.
So here is my reason for posting.
Upon buying the car I didn't see that one of the spun aluminum end caps was missing...maybe it wasn't and fell off on the 8 hour drive home. Either way it wasn't there when we got back.
I took the other side off to try and match it to buy new ones and the cap fell off in my hand.
This leaves a BIG open hole in the end of the filter to suck debris in past the filter. A couple of pieces of duct tape temporarily covered the holes while I tried to find new ones.
The ones I found at a major chain auto parts didn't fit. Either K&N or Sectra brands. The trouble is in the size of the filters I have and replacement ones.
The ones I have are 7"" in length with a 5" base diameter, which is the widest part, with a 3 1/2" Id on the coupler to fit on the aluminum pipe. All of the ones I could find were 6" base and the wasn't enough room to get them on the pipe.
Even when I popped the hold downs for the air bridge it was VERY tight and also started to deform the coupler from the bridge to the MAF.
So what do you learned people use if you have replaced your filters? K&N's site doesn't show any kind of fitment that would work, base diameter or inlet ID! I have no idea where to look to try and find something that will work. Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome, thanks all!
7\" in length
To show the width of the base, just under 5\"
3 1/2\" inlet ID
Pipe size

It does look just like mine. No sign of.a maker that I can see from the pictures. Is there any on the parts you have?
Pm me and we'll set this up to get it shipped.
Thanks a lot, much appreciated!
I did try there, and Auto Zone, Napa, O'Reilly. None of them had anything on the shelf that was close and ofcourse they offered to 'order' what I needed but I have no part number or manufacturer to look up so they couldn't 'find' anything and I'll I got was shoulder shrugs and 'Good Luck'.
