Doing light check on fitment this morning before having to be on the road for other chores today. Plus having to paint a new work bench I had to build when the old one fell apart when I was trying to put the nose on it before painting. Sigh!
Giving the paint another day or so with this damp weather we've been having down here before I start installing screw clips and attaching the lights and fog light cover. . Coming along very well.
Well, lesson learned this morning on setting up a new nose section.
Before you touch anything, put it out in the sun and let it warm up good and test bolt the lights and shrouds of the fog lights while warm and pliable. Then let it cool off, unbolt or just tape things off and then paint process.
Finally got all installed but not a perfect fit due to not doing the above.
But lights in , wiring in ( tested before installing ) . And 11 of the screw clips in place.
Other things to do this morn so installing the nose to the car later today or tomorrow.
Did get the nose in place yesterday and bolted up. Will do some more work on alinement when have the wife home to put some pressure where needed with the two major stud attachment Before tightening the stud nuts. After and misalignment is visible Left side before tighten It did line up better than the hit side.
bolts loose and retighten. Think the hit it took kind moved things around. But, as said, it's not a show car.
And, as of about 9AM today, Da Vette is a done deal.
A trip about town, coffee and conversation at the Fire Station and back home to wash Da Car.
All is good.
And Da Truck gets a break!
If I ever had to do this job again, I would do it a different way for sure but with cold weather and lots of rain, it was get er done and back on the road.
Total cost was right at 859 bucks from start to finish. llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lllllllllllllllll
Have really been enjoying the last couple days in my car. 40 days down was lots for me. But all good and set on adding miles and smiles. So far about 115 miles in the last two days. ;-) The truck > 5 miles LOL.
Nothing better than the feeling of accomplishment and pride in a job well done when you get back behind the wheel!
I've felt that way every time I've had mine tore apart and finally got it all back together.
I hope you have many more trouble free miles of smiles ahead!
