Default New here, got some questions

Bought a 98 c5 about a year ago( 179,00 miles) running, 2 owner, clean car fax if that matters. Replaced the knock sensors because they were bad. Changed oil and filter, had my mechanic check the car out he gave it a clean bill of health and said just drive it for a while and see what happens. My problem is after the engine warms up I can smell oil burning. Found what appeared to be a small oil leak around the oil sending sensor, changed that and the can shaft position sensor while I was at it. Cleaned all oil residue and still smell the oil, but I'm not losing any oil. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The oil was just changed, maybe some got spilled and will burn off soon.

Or maybe there is oil built up on the engine from minor leaks and that is what you are smelling?

Leaking/cracked pcv line maybe blowing out oil fumes?

We had a C5 in the other day and the smell was fuel.
Check for fuel leak.
Good luck

Check your oil pressure sensor it could be leaking. The sensor is behind the intake manifold. Good luck

Is that 17,900 miles or 179k miles. Big difference lol.

When I had perimeter bolt heads and valve covers on my C5 they were always a tad leaky at the valve cover.

Well an LS1 is a large leap over a traditional SBC in the oil leaks department, they're not perfect.

Is it dripping? If not, don't worry about it. If you still smell it in a couple of weeks, then worry about.

before you go washing that engine DO NOT pressure wash it or you will have a ton of trouble. spray some simple green on the oil and rinse it with a garden hose on low
The oil pressure sending unit is a problem area. you might want to look into a relocation kit for it

You may just have some residual oil left on the engine that is slowly being burnt off. Good suggestion to clean the engine and then see if the smell is gone. If not, you may want to look further into the source of the smell.

He already said he changed that.

OP - I would look at the front crank seal especially with that mileage. Crawl under the car and see what you can physically see oil coming from first.

Welcome to the forum - you're about 100,000 miles less than me, so there's still plenty of opportunity to drive.
