They're probably worse, electronics can't really make up for not being in the space where the signal actually is
These all detect laser/LIDAR too, the problem is, your already busted by then, you might catch a sliver of it beforehand, not likely though.
Generally means your caught, Instant-On radar is something you need to watch for too
I'm not up to speed on diffusers, active jamming of radar I believe is illegal, not sure if by diffusing it you mean non-electronic solutions to sending
back a hard to read signal?

I’ve been lucky a few times picking up laser ahead of time but it’s rare. Fortunately I don’t deal with much near me.

diffusers allegedly spread the wavelength of the laser out sufficiently so that they get a bad return. They're super expensive, and you need multiple ones on vehicle, and from what I've read there's significant debate over whether they work. they're illegal in some states.
I'm in the process of installing the Joying head unit that's been discussed in another thread. It's Android based and I've tossed around the idea of running the Valentine or Escort app right on the head unit.

but neither valentine or escort make a hidden system, correct? you still have to mount the receiver on the windshield?
My preference for a completely hidden system may be academic, as I can't find anything other than the k40 that's available, and I'm not spending $4k on the k40.
The K40 would take a lot of tickets, fines and attorney fees to equal what they want for it.
Also number of their sensors look way too low to me, I'm no EE though.

The closest V1 has is the remote relocate. I had my V1 in my STi mounted above the mirror with the relocate sitting on the column. With the relocate on, the front of the V1 stayed dark.
Thanks, not so much worried about the money (though the k40 is a bit much), I just want them out of sight. I've heard from many police officers that if they see a detector in someone's car they pull over, they are more inclined to give a full ticket (as opposed to giving a warning, or cutting back on how much you were over the limit). Also don't want to deal with the hassle of turning it off and taking it down when driving through states where they're illegal.
The beltronics looks pretty sweet, I'm assuming though that adding in laser diffuser is worthless?
They're only illegal in VA and DC, as far as I know, but I don't really keep up with it.

On the cost-- again, this is more subjective, I've had portables in the past, and just don't like the look of them hanging on the windshield. I already have a blackvue camera mounted behind the rearview, so I'd have to mount it lower.. and just really don't like the look. So I'm pretty committed to hidden units despite the price. Again, this is subjective, I get all the arguments pro/con for portables, and I just really would rather spend the money on a remote/hidden unit.
I'm thinking now of getting the netradar DSP, seems to be a very good mix of high end features, very good detection range, and the price isn't in the stratosphere... still more than portables, but not nearly as much as the k40, and much better performing.. need to do more research on it.
