Default Need Tires. Suggestions?

What's everyone running? I'd like a set of summer only with real good grip.

I see you are in NJ so it goes get cold. If you are seeking to drive your far under 50 degrees and still want great corvette worthy performance I’d look into Michelin AS 3 tires. I did hear you say you wanted summer tires and AS 3 are all season. That being said many of my friends have chosen this tire in place of their summer tires because it’s just a great corvette tire. No problem if you only use it in the summer it’s an excellent handling tire in the summer rain and in dry roads as well. Look it up.

I agree when it comes to the original GoodYear tires, but the Michelins have done well by me over the years. I just bough a set for my '01. I carried the compressor with the '03 Z06 I had many years ago, but for the coupe and with my wife driving it, I'd rather have the peace of mind.

Which tire? I just bought a set of Michelin ZPs last week for my '01. They're PS4s, I believe. They are still sitting at the tire shop, so I haven't seen them yet. Waiting for the winter storm to pass by before getting them on the car.

"summer only with real good grip" I would recommend Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Best tire I've owned. If you want something cheaper but still good, try the Continental Extreme Contact Sports. I own both of those tires (I have 3 C5s) and without a doubt, the Michelins are a better tire.

You can use the search feature in the upper right and get more opinions than you can probably digest - -but you'll sure get lots of info !

O bought Nitto 555 G2 last Christmas - - -had them on another C5 as well and thought they rode and handled well - - but we don't have your kinda weather out here . . .

I ran Invos for years on my 2008 Z06. Great tire! Although when I put the Michelin PSS on that car, they seemed to grip better both straight-line and lateral.

I wasn't exactly in the market for tires, just yet, but like many people, I tend to "window shop" now and again, just to plan for the future. My C-5s current Michelin RFs, the Pilot Sports, are 7 and 8 years old, respectively, F & R. I was looking at the 'Tire Rack' site, and the Michelin RFs, the AS+3s, had disappeared. I checked the 'Michelin Man. com' site, and they disappeared from there, too. I e-mailed the Michelin site, and they replied that they discontinued the RF tires, and made no mention of any replacements.

Hopefully you were able to purchase what you wanted, but to the best of my knowledge, the only RF in C-5 sizing, that Michelin was making, lately, was the AS+3. If you bought something else, be sure to check the manufacturing date code, and good luck!!

×2! I have a built LS7 in my C5 that made 620 at the crank, so I'm guessing around 500+whp, and even 315/30/18 Michelin PS2s won't hook well.

LOL. I've been running those sizes for 10 years with 570hp. I don't want big heavy oversized tires that slow the car down. I did that with another car recently and immediately noticed te difference. So I'd really need to think about that. I'd like a stickier rubber as my BFG G-Force tires (remember those?) are done even though they still look new. I'll probably look into MIchelins this time or maybe M/T's. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I ran Michelin run flats for years. Great improvement over the GYs. Jersey roads are the worst.

+1 for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. That's what I'm running on mine. They are leaps and bounds better than anything else I've tried.
