Default Wheel Gap on rear.

Hey so i have a 2002 Corvette with 275/40/17 in the front and 295/35/18 in the rear, there is a rather large gap between the tire and the inner fender on the rear and some on the front. I've read around and most people say you shouldn't go with a 40 sidewall in the rear on stock wheels. Wondering if there is any other way around it without going with coil overs or aftermarket springs. Anything Helps!

If those are the 10.5" wide C5 Z06 rear wheels, you can run (usually!!) a 305/35/18 or, like I do on my car, 315/30/18s. Don't know what your goals/budget is, but I also have Goodyear Supercar 285/40/18s on my car now here in Florida. The 315s are on a set of extra wheels, and are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. The 315s clear by about 7/16"-1/2" per side from tire sidewall to the inner fender. Hope this helps some. OH-On my car, with Active Handling, I've had no problem with any codes due to differences in tire height from front to rear......

"You shouldn't go with a 40 sidewall" isn't exactly how tire sizing works.

275/40? Fine. 315/40? Not fine.

The sidewall is a percentage of the section width. You need to look at the overall diameter of the tires to make a decision.

Or, since it seems like you have decent tires on there - lowering bolts it is.

Like others have said, use the lowering bolts, it's easy to do.

I agree, but you have to keep the "aero rake" in mind..........

No reason you can't fit a 295/40/18 rear tire, if desired. That size is around 1" taller, than a 295/35/18.

I used this description and it worked perfectly. FYI, squirt the nut and threads with some PB Blaster and let it soak in for a bit.

Don't skip the alignment
I had mine aligned right before I lowered it with the stock bolts, took it back it and the alignment had changed quite a bit

I run 275/40R17 and 295/40R18s no problem.
