How do you guys do this? I've seen it recommended to use marine lube, but how do you actually get it in there? cartridge and grease gun? or does it come in a spray form?
I'm guessing they dont know that there is a subscribe button at the top and posting that will automatically subscribe them for reply notifications. I'm just guessing

I wouldn't have thought of that. Thought he was making fun of me somehow. But he is a seasoned veteran of this forum, so I think he would know about the subscribe button

The Popcorn emoji is a sort of metaphor for 'patiently waiting for an answer, too', or 'Id like to know, also', 'This should be interesting', etc.. It is in no way making fun of an OP, which, in this case, is you. Now, if it was a pissed off emoji, or an emoji, well........

Thanks. Guess i have to educate my self on emoji's
The manner in which it is applied doesn’t matter. As long as it gets on the hinge. What else are you looking for? Call Lyle. He is very helpful on the phone.
Man, I've been a big believer in oiling hinges for years. Can't stand a door that sags! Go to your local Farm Supply store and get a syringe and needle. This one is over 10 years old, but they are very inexpensive. Allows you to get the oil just where you want it. I'm old school and use straight non-detergent 30w oil, but I'm sure there are others. The needles are extremely sharp and you may want to file it down a little.

that seems a little aggressive for lubing a hinge, but hey what ever works for you. Lol.

Dave
People seem to over use it here or use it more generally. On other boards/discords it's usually used when a poster is about to spark controversy or flare up an augment between two or more members/camps. The person posting popcorn doesn't have a stake in the fight but is a regular who knows the boards meta and is awaiting what will surely be a good show, popcorn in hand.
= "Heh, this aught to be good."

im not lubing anything on my car with whats currently in that thing. Is that tar?
Chogan....The syringe has new 30w oil in it. Its lubed many hinges over the years and allows oil to get into the hinge surface and roller pins while making a minimal mess. I'm glad you got a good rise out of my post.

That tool reminds me of clock oilers, for those of us who still have mechanical works inside the clock that need occasional lube. It allows pinpoint oil delivery. FWIW.... I use 3 in 1 oil, partly due to the small stem delivery point. I can see where a thicker oil would lube and cling to the desired areas once inside. It seem this might be a perfect spot for motorcycle chain lube that has a 'straw' for pinpointing delivery. It goes on very thin to reach the desired areas, then in a short time later, it coagulates into a thicker, almost grease like substance.
I have lubed my door hinges a few times. I used to used WD-40, but changed to Marine Lube because I saw the video by Lyle at C&S awhile back. Much like WD-40, Marine Lube comes with a straw that can attach to the spray can. While I wouldn't just spray the hinge without the straw, you don't need a needle and syringe either. The straw allows for precise placement with enough pressure behind it to get it between the hinge pieces. The bottom hinge is by far the most important, but I lube all the hinges. I shove the straw right up against where the two parts of the hinge meet up. I move the straw horizontally around the round part of the hinge to get the lube all around. I also lube around the "catch points" in the bottom hinge as well. I will then gently open and close the door to work the lube in. If needed, you can repeat this process until the door opens and closes easily with no creaking or squeaking. There's no such thing as too much lube in this situation, so don't be shy with your application. If the lube drips down onto the front of the door sill, just clean off the door sill, but leave any excess oil on the hinges. This has always worked well for me. You'll be shocked at the difference it makes if you've never done it before.
