I replace between 10-20 batteries a day, and this was a recent AC delco battery that got replaced. It was the factory battery out of a fairly new Cruze or sonic or something. I wouldn’t use anything but an AGM for this reason, because this is far from uncommon.
Walmart, under $100, ran mine for five and a half years them replaced it with another one before it failed. Made by Johnson Controls who makes them under many name plates.
Just replaced an Interstate Battery that finely died (my fault) with a Wal-Mart EverStart battery... $90.00 and all good to go!
I always loved optima, but since the manufacturer moved they seem to be hit and miss. Did a ton of research and found the odyssey to rate the highest although priced that way too. They use only new lead not recycled. I also put an acid mat underneath figured for 5 dollars why not.
I bought a new Delco last fall. Dealer said it was the correct series battery for my 2000 C5. 800cca, 110 min rc. BUT-It has two oblong looking 'vents', one on each end. I once owned 2 different Buick LeSabre's, and these batteries look identical. The Buick batteries were under the rear seat(!!), and had a special 'rubber tubing' type thing that was made to vent corrosive gas out under the floor, iirc. My C5 has no such rubber tubing. I'll be the first to admit that perhaps these 'vents' are no longer functional. However, if they are, you'll get highly corrosive gas just above the PCM, and a whole bunch of wiring harnesses. So I made up my own tubing apparatus out of fuel line, and a 'tee', that vents the gas, if present, out the bottom of the car. I probably woulda returned the battery, but it was a free replacement of the 1 year old battery I had previously. My point is, perhaps young parts counter guys that work at the 'stealer' may not know what the Hell they're doing. However, that battery that went bad also had these 'oblong vents' on the battery case at the top, one at each end. Just like the replacement. If it sounds like I don't trust parts counter guys, that would be correct. But they said it's the new, correct part# for 1997-2004 C5, so.......
