Was quoted 1K from a great corvette shop here in Austin. I have not done it since waiting to do a cam swap too. I had a friend get his done for 500 for a joe blow shop. Now his power streering is leaking and has other issues.

So you get what you pay for

"You get what you pay for" definitely doesn't apply to auto repair labor.

I work at a dealership and have seen some absolutely hack garbage come through from other dealers and independents alike. Auto repair is a crap shoot. 100% of the time.

It's why I do 95% of everything myself. I do understand that's not realistic for a lot of folks though.

Yup. Same. Everything but tires and alignments pretty much. I let the balancer get done by my buddy who tuned both of my cars because I know he daily drives a C5, too - and it was when I first got the car and was still mystified by it. Now I know how easy most things are on it, so I do myself.
