Well that's awesome news for a change. Looks great. Really glad to hear it's almost in your hands. Hope the removal of the old one goes lickety split, easy peasy and slick as butter.

I just got an email from Dave at VQCarbonCustoms last night. My wheel is FINALLY finished, and it shipped out today!!!! They sent me a picture of the finished wheel, and I'm very happy. I wanted something nice that was a bit more special than just a padded leather wheel, but I also wanted it to look like it could have been stock. I settled on matte black carbon fiber with no center stripe, and black perforated leather grips on the side with matching black stitching and a flat bottom. I've been waiting for 5 months, but it looks like I'm getting what I wanted. I'll post more pics, and a detailed review once I actually receive the wheel and get it installed. The picture they sent of my completed wheel.
Is it the same size as the stock C5 steering wheel or is it smaller like the C6 size? Btw, it looks great!!!

It uses the original C5 airbag, so they can't really make it a whole lot smaller. However, the subtle differences in shape should make it a lot better than the stock wheel.

Given all the nightmare stories that I've heard about trying to get the old wheel off, I've decided to have my mechanic do it. I talked to him about it yesterday, and he'll do it for $98.00(one hour of shop time). Since he will often let me help with things, I might just have him pull the old wheel, and then install the new one myself.
I was actually telling my mechanic about you! The fact that you ended up swapping out your steering column was what really convinced me that I didn't even want to try pulling the wheel myself.
You can get it with the rounded top I just chose that one, not sure about the thickness but I remember there were a few versions. I would go to the website(autodynamics west)and check it out, and if necessary call them. The owner, Greg, was very helpful with explaining exactly what I was getting. I'm extremely happy with mine, it's so much nicer than the stock one.
You wouldn't happen to have measurements would you? Top to bottom and side to side of your ADW steering wheel? I've been drooling over their website but want to know if it feels truly smaller and more proper than the stock one.

Yeah... and that was after I gave up trying every method known to man to cut the wheel off. Someone on the facebook groups even suggested hooking the wheel up to a tree with a ratchet strap and hitting the column (with the nut on the shaft) to shock it loose.
I did that. No joke. When even that failed, I was like... yeah a $100 column is MUCH easier to swap and be done with it.

I really like the look of your new one, however, it looks like he a utilized a used stock core just modified at the bottom or is it just the picture? Do you have to send in your old core to receive a deposit back? Looking forward to seeing it installed.

That's what every wheel company does. I'm sure new ones are long discontinued.

Most of the companies I looked at do require you to either send your old wheel or pay a core charge. However, VQCarbonCustoms actually did not require or even request that. It's one of the things that I liked about them when I first started this process. I will be able to keep my stock wheel (unless my mechanic ends up cutting it into pieces to get it off ).
Fitted to my 99, out of a GMH SS Redline in Australia, had the center spline removed from the original and welded into this one, so much better.
Having never driven a right hand drive car, I found that picture very disorienting at first. I've certainly never seen a RHD C5 before. Looks nice though. It looks like you have something interesting going on under that cowl hood. Are the buttons on your wheel functional?
