I noticed a discussion in a C6 thread where drilling a few holes in the muffler increased the sound level. Has anyone found a mod like that for the C5. I would welcome an increase in the sound volume of the exhaust without spending $$ for an after market system.
...of course drilling a hole in the muffler will make it louder.
Some guys do the bypass mod where they run a piece of pipe from the part that goes into the muffler straight into one of the tips, bypassing the muffler itself with some of the gas. Never heard it in person myself.
Put down the Black and Decker. You're not driving a '73 Nova hatchback with air shocks and N50 rear tires. You own a Corvette, time to "up your game". Save up for a good quality exhaust system or be happy with what you have.

I would not drill into the muffler to increase the sound. As stated, either do the muffler bypass modification or buy a good aftermarket catback system - which can be either new or used.
You're young and have a bit more to learn about cars son... Listen up... Don't mess with carbonmonoxide and your car... Dangerous.
Come on! Drilling a few holes in the muffler isn't going to give this guy carbon monoxide poisoning unless he's doing in a closed garage with the car running! I think you're making assumptions about this guy without knowing anything about him.
With that said, I agree that you shouldn't just drill holes in your muffler. You can get the bypass mod done or around $200.00 (or $2.00 if you can fab and weld it yourself). I would check your state and local laws before making any modifications to your exhaust though. The nice thing about the bypass mod, is that you won't get any drone. The only other options (other than remaining stock) that have no drone are expensive systems from Borla or Corsa.
