Hi All,
We have left the vette home in the garage for the last few winters, but there are so many top down days in FL over the winter we are thinking of trailering it with us. My DD is a new Ram Limited, so no issues there, will buy a low deck trailer. Can anyone offer a suggestion for tie downs, wheel loops or straps? Stock tire sizes.
Thanks!
There are several detailed threads in the road racing section on this. IMO it depends on the trailer and if you want to tow other things on the trailer. I we t with straps through the wheel barrels. Specifically, a lasso strap and a short ratchet with a twisted flat hook. I think the WLL is around 3,000 per strap. Small packaging, simple (hoping simple = reliable), fairly broad adjustability, does not have the expansion/contraction forces that frame-mounted tiedowns have, and very difficult to come inadvertently undone. Macs tiedowns are premium priced but show several different methods.
Other methods with good results: wheel nets, J hooks in the shipping slots, e track, etc.
^very nice setup. Mine was similar but a low-budget setup. I had to use the ratchet bolted directly to the hook as well as a lasso strap due to clearance limitations.
