The original Mallet C5 had a straight run from over the axle to the center rear. He used bike style shorty mufflers IIRC, which required surgery to the center compartment under the trunk floor - essentially making the compartment much shallower - to get them in. The road testers of the time said it sounded good, but was very loud.

Popular mod to cut the trunk shallower for road course guys. Also served to make rear diff access panel.
If you cut the trunk shallow enough you can run a C6 style exhaust.
Btw I decided to got some heat resistant tubing and make a little piece of trim for the bumper cutouts rather than plates , yes if I were to do it over again I think I would have made the exit a cpl inches higher so ida had a flat surface to work with, it is what it is I’m still happy I did it because of the simplicity of being able to swap out mufflers very easily, being able to utilize the stock pipes I think my investment is around 70 bucks, I know a lotta guys like the “classic” Borla, bb, Magnaflow Blump , i do too..... but I like this better!

Just keep in mind your blocking plate where the stock exhaust exited is now creating drag/messing up the aero of the car, unless you also have a cover underneath.

Seriously ... create drag and mess up aerodynamics ? Uhh I think I’ll save my worries for something else. Only place I’m worried about turbulence is In my intake manifold.
