I want to disable the radio antenna and did a few searches for how to do it. I don't want to install a switch for on/off. So I tried to remove the carpeted panel in my convertible trunk for access to the antenna plug. Is the right screw for the cargo net holding the panel in place? I couldn't get the panel to release and I didn't want to break it. Is removing the screw necessary to pull out the carpeted panel? Another fear is that I won't be able to get it back in place. The trunk is exactly as it was 23 years ago when it left Bowling Green...
TIA everyone...
MODS: I forgot that I was in "general" please send this post to "tech". Thanks...
One of the posts I read from 2007 stated that pulling fuse #24 disables the antenna, but also disables the CD player which I use... Guess there's one way to find out...
Thanks for the suggestion.
Check the trim on the wheel well. That needs to be removed in order to remove the panel. You may also need to remove the rear panel (the one with the 2 fasteners that hold the cargo net.
One more thing. Be very careful with the light when removing the panel. The tabs that hold them get very brittle over time and are prone to break. Ask me how I know😀

Not sure if the OEM head unit is different, but I installed a Kenwood double din head unit with a CD slot behind the screen and it works fine with the power antenna fuse pulled. I never liked the radio controlled toy car look of the power antenna and since I listen to either my ITunes library or an occasional CD most of the time, I just pulled the fuse and everything works fine. I even pull in local radio stations.
Definitely worth trying before removing the trunk trim and electronics.

The antenna looks dated to me and so do the stubby versions which have a terrible signal for distant stations. I bought a shark fin-style antenna but it won’t fit the radius of the fender.
So...I pulled the antenna fuse. That keeps the great reception because the antenna is still connected inside my plastic fantastic car and now the antenna never goes up like it’s a 90’s vehicle.
I need to do this. I also hate the look of the antenna. It's always annoyed me that the antenna goes up when I'm listening to a CD. There seem to be several options listed here. It would be easy to pull the tail light and get to the harness, but it would also be easy to pull the fuse. Does pulling the fuse effect anything other than just the antenna?
Hey Warlord-
Agreed. I hated the antenna going up. So pulling the fuse only stopped powering the antenna’s raising and lowering as far as I know.
No other issues. And I still get excellent radio reception anytime. I use USB sticks for 1000s of tunes or Spotify.

I started this thread and have tried all of the suggestions from my fellow Corvette Forum members. I removed the far right taillight and could not see where the antenna plugged into a harness and thus could not disconnect it. I removed fuse #24 and the antenna did not rise. However, the CD player does not work without #24 inserted. Finally, I removed the carpeted panel after removing the trunk lighting fixture and the two cargo net holders by unscrewing them. There is the infamous pink wire... Snip and the issue is resolved. I don't like to cut any wires in my car but this, after trying all the other suggestions, was the simplest way to fix the antenna issue. I never use the radio and could easily reconnect the wire if necessary.
Thanks to all of you for the excellent information. BC

With the fuse pulled, #24 - the CD player will not operate... The antenna does not rise either...
In the end I decided to remove the power antenna altogether and replace with a Z06 mount and shorty antenna. I have an aftermarket head unit and speakers so no longer needed the power antenna connected for the Bose amp to fire up the stock speakers and CD player.
This was the first mod I made to my 2000 vert. The antenna whined in the wind and was louder than the radio with the top down. I unplugged the antenna in the rear under the carpet, didn't need to cut the pink wire, was very simple.
