Hello Everyone! First let me say thank you, we just replaced the left actuator door and fixed the climate control dim / not working display. I would not have even tried these things without researching you all!! Added bonus sent in the EBCM to get that fixed too. Now that I have the car all taken apart I was wanting to upgrade to bluetooth for my stock radio. I do have the 12 disc changer in the trunk area and it doesn't work. It loads the discs and then gives the error message. I have tried all the trouble shooting on that and don't want to spend any more time or $ on it if I don't have to. Discount Car Stereo only had the adapter for the one with the working 12 disc changer. Are there any other options? Thank you for all of your help!!
Hey… don’t waste your money on the Discount Car Stereo CD changer adapter to get your Bluetooth. I’ve ordered and returned two of them, they just don’t work. When I explained the symptoms they said the cable was defective and did replace it for free, although it did cost me $18 to ship the old one back. The second one was worse than the first. I got the CD music playing on the left channel and the Bluetooth music from my phone on the right channel. Both channels were full of static and interference. My stereo is all stock so I don’t think it’s my car, but who knows. Now I’m looking for a replacement head unit with Bluetooth. I’m done trying to screw around with a make-shift solution.
My experience.
They make great bluetooth transmitters that plug into your cig lighter and broadcast over a radio station. I got one for my son and was impressed by how well it does. Don't like it, return it, $14...
I bought a blue tooth transmitter just this week. Got it from Amazon. works great. Easy set up ,low cost and it plays sxm through my sxm app! Good luck!
FM Bluetooth transmitter for me too. Been using one for years.
Is it perfect? No. But for me, the audio quality is more than good enough, and at the sub-$20 price that most of them are, they’re kind of hard to beat.
A LOT less hassle than replacing the stock unit or trying to find something that’ll work with it.
YMMV, of course, but at that price it’s worth a shot.
Never had a CD changer in the trunk so I was able to incorporate the Discount Car Stereo BT adaptor without a problem. It gets the job done, sounds great, and allows me to keep the factory radio in place. The adapter is custom made when ordered, depending on your current factory radio setup. It took about 2 weeks by the time I received it. Best part is that it was plug n play.
I just picked one of these up and it works amazingly well! Super happy with it.

I've been using an FM bluetooth transmitter for years. I personally think that it is both the best and cheapest option if you want to keep your stock HU. Your other option would be to upgrade your head unit. There is a really good thread on a touch screen unit from Joying that will fit in the stock bezel.
