Yeah, I love the look of satin black - done it once and would never do it again on a daily driver though. I don't have the patience to keep it clean, but I loved it:
It's a LOT of work for a street driven car. Come to think of it, so were those raw billet wheels.
They are obviously not both C5s
This is only a comparison between flat or gloss paint.
A car that has flat/satin/matt, whatever those are, look like primer waiting to be painted,
It’s a matter of what you like, I suppose.
One of my neighbors bought a white C7 then had is wrapped in satin black. I told him all he needed were super dark side windows and he would be mistaken for a dealer - and not of cars.

as I was looking I ran across "wrapped."
I noticed guys covering the paint with that.
What is the purpose for doing that and why not just get it painted?

A wrap is significantly less expensive than a paint job, and if garaged, will last virtually forever. Good paint isn't cheap, and cheap paint isn't good.
I saw a perfectly nice, modern BMW at the mall with an intentionally very rusted hood a couple years back, I'd heard that was a thing, but didn't believe it until I saw it
I like satin black but don't know if I'd go with it on a C5 unless it already had crappy paint.
I had this '29 Model A Ford hot rod and the upper half wasn't bad but it had kind of a crappy paint job on the lower half so I spray bombed it. Thought it looked okay and was easy to maintain, just wipe it off when it got dirty and very easy to touch up bad spots by simply spraying over with more paint.

It's not my personal taste on a C5, but It doesn't bother me if you chose to paint your car a matte black. The car in the original video certainly sounds good.
Satin and matte finish paint looks really good on some vehicles...not as much on others. I have seen a matte purple C5 once and I thought it looked stunning. But, it's definitely not a look that all folks like or appreciate.
